Strain Hardened Bars

When your application requires stronger material at large diameters, strain hardened bar can provide the strength required by demanding specifications. Available in round, hex, square, and rectangular shapes, you can find a solution for a variety of industries, including petro chemical, fasteners and fittings, pulp and paper, and desalination and chemical processing.

Material deformed at low temperatures achieves strain hardened properties by creating additional dislocations, while not allowing the structure to rearrange. As these additional dislocations interact, they bond together to strengthen the material, making strain hardened bar a popular choice for high strength, low ductility applications. Our drawbench capabilities allow us to achieve strain hardened properties in sizes up to 2.5” (63.5 mm).

We can manufacture strain hardened bars in a variety of alloys, such as:

  • Nickel
  • Stainless steel
  • Duplex stainless steel
  • Cobalt
  • Copper/brass
  • Chromium
  • Molybdenum
  • Zirconium
  • Iron
  • Tantalum
